reasons to be grateful
dolphins, bonfires, pizza, old friends
so much happened today, so many smiles, and so many things to be grateful for:
Nettie popped in for the day with Hannah
we had a big table of pizza [and some red wine]
while the kids were surfing in the dusk, we saw dolphins just a few metres behind the break where they were surfing. I've never seen them here before
Beach bonfire beginnings
Originally uploaded by ninefish. We made a bonfire on the beach, wrapped ourselves in blankets and once the kids had finished they came to warm themselves around the flames, they cooked few marshmallows
just before the Firemen came
Originally uploaded by ninefish.but the fun was truncated when the firemen came to put out the bonfire. There was a fire truck, sirens and the stern voice of the fireman.
walking home
Originally uploaded by ninefish.apparently it was a danger to shipping, it's not as if it was a beacon like in Lord of the Rings, more of a smoky little thing we were well in control of. It was more a miracle that it was alight at all as the driftwood was so wet from the rain during the morning

three things tuesday
The glowering clouds impressed me
I'm grateful that my big girl Hannah still takes the time to cuddle up on the sofa even though she's grown up in so many other areas.
That the kids can have so much fun with some sand and some sea water

friday i'm in love
Hiring a long board on the beach. No photos today even though yesterday was very sunny and possiblythe hottest so far this holiday. before lunch very little wind, the rising surf and high tide. afterwards the rising easterly took the joy from the day, but not before henny had her defining moment
watching henny surf the long board into the beach, standing up and grinning from ear to ear. Looking back over her shoulder and grinning from ear to ear, checking out whether dad has been watching. i had, and i saw it all.
eliot did as well, though from further out and with a few wiggles thrown for good measure.
friday night is pizza night another tradition. i'm grateful for being able to sit watching Star Wars 2 eating homemade pizza [cooked in the recently refurbished oven that now works when the old one ruined everything i baked in it] followed by foul tasting chocolate from Cadbury who have ruined triple decker by adding this bright pink top layer. It may be the last time i let henrietta choose the movie chocolate again.
the politically incorrect joy of a sunburned face, and the tingle of feet that are also too red for their own good

a smile file, really for private consumption,
but on the web anyway.
don't tell anyone you've found it will you?
